Accounting
Accounting
involves tracking, auditing and reporting security and usage activity. Accounting enables
administrators to determine usage patterns and quickly identify unusual activity, either
by authorized or unauthorized users. It can also detect attempts to access protected
files, and evaluate the integrity of a security system. Accounting is most commonly used
for billing, as well as for security auditing. Most law firms, however, have different
accounting systems from multiple vendors, as well as multiple homegrown databases. Many
legacy accounting systems which may have been implemented before the advent of remote
access don't take remote applications into account, despite the fact that these
capabilities need to be integrated with other accounting functions.
