It’s Monday morning. You sit down at your desk, take a sip of coffee, turn your computer on and logon to the network. The firm’s scheduler and email comes up on the screen. After a quick look at the schedule and your to-do list you scroll down through the email (deleting the bake sales and the ride-to-work requests). One email is from a client asking a key question about a pending case. Before sending a reply, you log onto the Internet and access your firm's account at Lexis-Nexis.com where you manage to answer the client's question in just under ten minutes. You download the answer and attach it to an email answering the client's question. Just to be safe you print it and fax it to your client's in-house paralegal. Then your secretary's line lights up and she says an old friend is on the line, can she put him through? It turns out the old friend is in town and wants to meet you for lunch; you check your schedule again to make sure no one in the firm has added anything in the last few minutes and then agree to meet him at noon. Your secretary buzzes you again and says the answer in that new case is ready for signature. A second later, the answer and a transmittal letter begin to print out on the printer next to your computer. After signing it and putting it in the pre-addressed envelope, you get up, go in the bedroom and finish getting dressed. Then you call your secretary, to let her know your will be back home by 1:30 P.M., put the letter in the mailbox, wave goodbye to the dog and drive to lunch.
